The Building of 100 Names

February, 2020

The renovation of the building known as "100 Names" has prompted the invitation of three artists to delve into the essence of naming it anew. They propose three alternative titles that delve into broader themes of activism, revitalization, and consumerism.

"Consumption (House)" serves as a response or protest against the pervasive culture of consumption prevalent in both physical and digital realms. Inspired by the familiar notification icon of Facebook, this piece endeavors to shed light on our tendency towards endless scrolling and perpetual distraction. Crafted by Manual Foundry, an independent type foundry from Manchester, the custom typeface features exaggerated curves and inflated forms, serving as a visual reminder of our tendency towards overconsumption.
